Rottenstein Law Group Hopes Congress Collects Documents To Determine...

The Rottenstein Law Group, which represents clients with claims stemming from the adverse effects of vaginal mesh, hopes the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce holds "hearings to examine whether FDA device regulation has been ineffective in protecting the public from dangerous medical devices like the Lap-Band and intravaginal mesh" and that the committee seeks "documents from the manufacturers of surgical mesh to ascertain when they first learned of the safety issues associated with certain uses of the device and what, if any, actions [the manufacturers] took to limit risks for patients." These actions are requested by three Democratic members of the House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce in a Jan. 20, 2012, letter sent to the committee's chairman. The letter is a renewal of its authors' Oct. 2011 request that the committee take these steps. In light of the pain and suffering surgical mesh is causing hundreds of women, as described in recent articles in periodicals including Bloomberg, the Rottenstein Law Group hopes the committee complies.
