Breakthrough for Brain Tumors, the American Brain Tumor Association’s (ABTA) annual lakefront 5K run/walk, will take place on Saturday, May 12 at Chicago’s Montrose Harbor. The event draws to Chicago thousands of families and friends who have been impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis. Proceeds from the event support brain tumor research and a range of services that the ABTA provides for brain tumor patients and their families.
The morning will start with a chip-timed run, followed by an all-ages walk. Refreshments, music and family-friendly entertainment will follow the 5Ks.
“This event reflects the American Brain Tumor Association’s
commitment to improving the lives of patients and families
struggling to cope with a brain tumor diagnosis through the support
of very promising work underway in research labs across the
country,” said ABTA President and CEO Elizabeth Wilson. “Whether we
are helping to bring about individual or research breakthroughs,
those who turn to the ABTA find that we are here for them at every
step along the way.”
Last year’s 5K event raised more than $1 million in support of the
ABTA’s mission to advance the understanding and treatment of brain
tumors. The event continues to grow each year, and will expand to
New York City next fall.
