The League for Innovation announced today that it has teamed with LearningTimes to produce STEMtech Online, which will run in conjunction with the onsite STEMtech conference being held October 31 - November 3, 2010, at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in Orlando, Florida. Phoenix, AZ June 21, 2010 -- The League for Innovation announced today that it has teamed with Learning Times to produce STEMtech Online, the virtual component that will run in conjunction with the onsite STEMtech conference being held October 31 - November 3, 2010, at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in Orlando, Florida. Like the onsite conference, STEMtech Online, November 1-2, 2010, will be a comprehensive conference experience with a strong focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in general education and workforce training, while also exploring the intelligent application of information technology in educational institutions.

“In the current economy, many colleges and universities have seen their travel budgets reduced or eliminated,” said League for Innovation president and CEO, Gerardo E. de los Santos. “While there is no substitute for the personal interactions face-to-face meetings provide, STEMtech Online will allow individuals to participate in meaningful ways in a great conference without incurring travel expenses. Because travel costs and online conference fees are reduced, more people will be able to participate in the most exciting professional development opportunity to come along in some time.”

STEMtech Online is being designed to fully integrate its virtual participants with participants of the onsite conference. STEMtech Online participants can attend presentations, chat and network with other participants, and even visit virtual exhibition booths. Actor and activist Ed Begley, Jr., will make the keynote presentation at the onsite conference, which will be streamed to STEMtech Online participants. In addition, track keynote presentations and special sessions by leading STEM and technology experts will be streamed live from the onsite conference. Interactive webinars will also be streamed live to participants of STEMtech Online. Participants in the virtual conference will have several other opportunities for collaboration, education, and networking, including a kick-off session each day that will introduce that day’s schedule, a virtual Happy Hour on Monday evening, and an online conference wrap-up and feedback program immediately after the final presentation on Tuesday. League for Innovation corporate partners will also have a strong presence during STEMtech Online. The virtual exhibit hall will be accessible throughout the year following the conclusion of STEMtech Online and will include descriptions, graphics, documents, web links, and contact information for each sponsor.

Following the conclusion of the conference, STEMtech Online sessions will be available to conference participants for viewing online for 10 days. As an added bonus, individual STEMtech Online participants receive a one-year membership to iStream, the League for Innovation’s web-based, multimedia portal where faculty, staff, administrators, and students can find unlimited access to videos, articles, publications, learning programs, STEMtech Online content, and other professional development resources.

Early registration and group discounts for STEMtech Online are available now through October 31, 2010. Detailed information regarding registration, sponsorship opportunities, and the conference’s schedule can be found at www.league.org/stemtech/online/.
