Narcissus was a mythological Greek male who looked adoringly at himself in the reflection of a stream and became forever in love with his own image. From that mythology a definition of a type of personality was born...Narcissism. In its extreme it is known as Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). This type of disorder is characterized by an all consuming focus on oneself to the exclusion of anyone else.

Movies can be inspiring for hackers. In National Treasure Nicholas Cage remembers some details about a person which helps him to find the right password to hack a security system. A simple detail is only that, but when more facts of someone are gathered a psychologist is able to determine a psychological profile. And that on itself can help to find out passwords. Movies and real life do not differ a lot in that sense.

O\'Toole, Deffenbacher, Valentin, and Abdi (1994) reviewed several factors that influence face recognition. Typicality, one of these factors, refers to how similar a face is to a prototypical face. A prototypical face is a blend of typical or homogeneous features that are "normal." A prototypical face is a conceptual tool used to describe similarity of features.

There are numerous signs and symptoms that let us know when our child has been traumatized. As we review them, it will become apparent that many are also part of other more commonly diagnosed problems, such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, and depression. This has become a serious problem in the fields of medicine, mental health, and education. Children are being misdiagnosed and prescribed ineffective medications that often do not work because the original diagnosis was wrong.

The early Greek philosophers affected psychology because they challenged the traditional church and began to explore our world with rationality instead of blind faith. They questioned the authority and traditions of their time. They looked for answers that could be observed in the natural world. For example, Hunt (1993) writes, Alcmaeon suggested that the brain, rather than organs such as the heart, is where thinking and processing occur.

I remember my first visit to a therapist and it still makes me smile. He was a small frame of a man who weighed about the same as a 13 year old boy. He greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel at home almost instantly. Our rapport was obvious and while I was still quite apprehensive about the whole idea of therapy, I felt that perhaps this was the man who would solve all of my problems and make me whole again. During that first visit we touched on a few of my issues and he told me how we would proceed from that point forward.

When I started studying the meaning of my own dreams I cared about learning what was happening inside me, because I was sure that I was neurotic. My father is schizophrenic, and I started showing similar characteristics that were particular to his behavior in my own behavior.

Face recognition and eyewitness identification have a long history of inaccuracy. Sporer (1996) recounted evidence of such an inaccuracy dating back to 1796 that had dire consequences. In France, four men robbed a stagecoach. Over the following ten years, eight men were tried and convicted of the crime. Six men were executed for the crime. One of those executed, turned out to be a bystander and a victim of the crime. Another was found to have been at his home at a dinner party at the time of the crime.

Ethology is the study of animal behavior. Ethology stresses that biology influences behavior which is intimately affected by evolutionary processes. All animals, including human beings, form an attachment bond during infancy. Konrad Lorenz (1965) identified this phenomenon as "imprinting." Imprinting is defined as rapid, innate learning within a limited critical period of time that involves attachment to the first moving object seen.

The basic reason why you must care about the meaning of your dreams is because they are produced by a wise human conscience that gives you precious guidance. Your dreams are not a product of chance, and their disorganized and confused images seem to be so only to the ignorant eyes that don\'t know the dream language. The dream language is a like any other language made only with words, with the difference that it is made with images.

The human race is supposed to be rational. The human race is supposed to look at all the available information and make decisions based on rational analysis. That just does not happen. What really happens is that we live by paradigms. A paradigm is a world view. We live in societies that have a particular world view. If a person lives according to a Christian paradigm they have a different perception of the world to someone who lives according to an Islamic paradigm. There is nothing rational about either, or any other paradigm.

This paper outlines an analytical reflection upon the first-hand experience of social influence phenomena based on at least three influence techniques discussed in the social psychology literature. For the purposes of this essay a timeshare seminar has been selected where paradigmatic persuasion techniques were observed to have been employed. The following analysis is based on the one-act play \'Market Forces\' based on the author\'s own first-hand experience and published in \'A Miscellany; Essays, stories, poems and a play\' (Jayasinghe 2008).
