New Innovation Set to Revolutionise Spray Technology - Used to Protect Against the Scottish Biting Midge & Help Fight MRSA in the NHS

Partnering with the University of Aberdeen and Rothamsted Research for releasing natural insect repellents that protect against the Scottish biting midge, Atrium Innovation's new electrostatic spray technology is set to revolutionise how people protect buildings from unwanted particles, insects, germs and bacteria. We use Atrium's innovative technology as it was the only spray technology that could successfully release our natural active ingredients in a controlled and consistent manner to treat and protect a space. The technology is unique in the way that it doesn't need propellants or heat to disperse liquid and this was critical in our choice of teaming up with Atrium for these trials. Our technology is incredible. Our goal is for it to be spray technology of choice for all quality liquids. Our air purifier Cleanaer™ is proving highly successful. It not only removes particles from the air but also suppresses them to prevent them re-circulating. We have started initial tests on killing bacteria and hope to move to trials against MRSA in the coming months.Nobody likes getting bitten by mosquitoes, but for some people it can mean life or death. We are working on various forms of repellants to protect against these insects. The beauty of our technology is it so efficient it uses less of any chemical or fluid than any other device, yet achieves faster results.

Oxford, UK October 3, 2008 -- Atrium Innovation Ltd has developed a new spray technology that uses no propellants or heat. The technology is so flexible the liquid dispensed can be almost anything. From spraying a natural insect repellent that helps protect a room from mosquitoes and midges to a safe sanitiser that could kill bacteria in the air. The technology has been commercialised in the form of an air purifier called Cleanaer™ and is endorsed by Allergy UK for helping to remove house dust mite and cat allergen from the air. Test show that once removed, particles are suppressed, preventing them from re-circulating.

Atrium formed a partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Rothamsted Research, who, having discovered why midges bite some people and not others, developed a more effective midge repellent naturally produced by humans. When looking for an efficient spray technology to release the repellent into the air, Prof. Jenny Mordue (Aberdeen) and Dr James Logan (Rothamsted), chose Atrium Innovation's technology.

Prof. Mordue said "We use Atrium's innovative technology as it was the only spray technology that could successfully release our natural active ingredients in a controlled and consistent manner to treat and protect a space. The technology is unique in the way that it doesn't need propellants or heat to disperse liquid and this was critical in our choice of teaming up with Atrium for these trials."

The development as a premium spray technology started 7 years ago in a shed in Oxford. The first commercial product "Solo" was released in 2003 and is still sold today by Cannon Hygiene. The latest product Cleanaer™ is an air purifier and available on-line Cleanaer Website, or through major retailers, Boots the Chemist, John Lewis and Lakeland. Other products for pest control of mosquitoes and sanitisation for MRSA are already in Atrium's development pipeline.

Atrium's CEO Alan EJ Jones commented "Our technology is incredible. Our goal is for it to be "the" spray technology of choice for all quality liquids. Our air purifier Cleanaer™ is proving highly successful. It not only removes particles from the air but also suppresses them to prevent them re-circulating. We have started initial tests on killing bacteria and hope to move to trials against MRSA in the coming months." When asked about the effects of the product against mosquitoes and flies, Alan concluded "Nobody likes getting bitten by mosquitoes, but for some people it can mean life or death. We are working on various forms of repellants to protect against these insects. The beauty of our technology is it so efficient it uses less of any chemical or fluid than any other device, yet achieves faster results."

NOTES TO EDITOR

Allergy UK
Formed in 1991 as a registered charity Allergy UK was formed by a group of leading medical specialists determined to improve awareness, management and treatment of allergy. The Allergy UK seal of approval is given to products that specifically restrict/reduce/remove allergens from the environment of allergy sufferers and also for products which have significantly reduced allergen content. Cleanaer is endorsed by Allergy UK for the removal of house dust mite and cat allergen, for a room up to seventeen cubic meters. This size is the standard allergy UK test room.

Professor A. J. Mordue Luntz MSc PhD FIBiol
Professor Jenny Mordue is a leading authority in scientific pest control. Her research concentrates on environmentally sound strategies for pest management with a particular specialisation on the Scottish biting midge. She has more than 100 scientific publications and several patents to her name.

Dr James Logan PhD FIBiol
Dr James Logan is a research scientist at Rothamsted Research whose work first led to the discovery of human derived natural repellents.

Atrium Innovation Limited
Atrium Innovation Ltd holds a portfolio of patented technologies in the field of electrostatics. A versatile and unique science, electrostatics has many potential applications in the world today from pharmaceuticals to pest control to medical devices. The company's core business is a highly efficient electrostatic dispersion method known as Liquidion™ Technology which has a number of distinct advantages. During operation, tiny charged droplets of liquid are generated by the patented spray console and these Liquidions are released into the atmosphere. Liquidions can extract pollutants from the air naturally and safely and can carry tiny amounts of high value liquids like fragrances or repellents. Cleanaer™ and aerstream technology™ are trademarks of Atrium Innovation Limited.
